presorted mail

Mail prepared so as to bypass certain postal operations in order to qualify for a discounted postal rate. Pieces must be grouped according to ZIP code or carrier route or carrier walk sequence. Presorted first-class mailing requires at least 500 addressed pieces of mail. See also zoned rate.
