poverty line definition - business

poverty line

The minimum amount of income required for a person or family to meet basic needs. The level of a poverty line is subjective and subject to disagreement. For example, an institution's definition of the poverty line for individuals living in the United States may assume a higher standard for necessities compared to someone living in a developing country.
