Legislation resulting in extensive pension reform, including additional incentives for individuals who save for their own retirement and stiff funding requirements for businesses that offer employer-funded pension plans. The act allows plan providers to offer investment advice and makes it easier for employers to sign up employees in 403(k) and 401(c) retirement plans. The act also affects charitable contributions, funding for long-term care, and college savings plans.
