miscellaneous itemized deductions definition - business

miscellaneous itemized deductions

Certain expenses, including unreimbursed employee expenses and tax preparation fees, that are permitted as part of itemized deductions used to reduce taxable income. Only miscellaneous itemized deductions (with a few exceptions) that exceed 2% of adjusted gross income can be claimed. Miscellaneous deductions are aggregated with deductions for charitable contributions, medical expenses, mortgage interest, and casualty losses to determine total itemized deductions that are compared with the standard deduction.
