international fund

international fund definition - business

international fund

A mutual fund that invests in the equity securities of companies located outside the country in which the fund is located. Compare global fund.

Should most individual investors own shares in an international fund, or is it enough to invest in domestic companies with substantial foreign business operations?

I believe that investors should own an international fund so that they can get full exposure to the region in which they are interested in investing. Large U.S. companies that derive significant international revenues offer some exposure, but not as much as country- and region-specific funds.
