international banking facility

A department of a depository institution with segregated assets and liabilities restricted to foreign deposits and loans. International banking facilities are designed to be competitive with foreign banks in large part because they are not required to abide by U.S. reserve requirements and interest rate restrictions that apply to domestic institutions.
