Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB)

The independent, private-sector organization that establishes the financial accounting and reporting standards for U.S. state and local governments. The GASB was established in 1984 and is funded by publication sales, contributions from state and local governments, and voluntary assessment fees from municipal bond issues.
