endorse

  1. To sign a negotiable instrument in order to transfer it to another party. For example, investors holding securities must endorse the certificates before delivery to the broker.
  2. To give support to a product, service, person, or cause. For example, a professional athlete may endorse a line of clothing. Also called testimonial.
