  1. The amount by which a bond sells below face value. See also below par, discount bond.
  2. A reduction in the price at which merchandise is being sold. For example, an appliance sale may allow customers to purchase refrigerators at a discount of 25% off the regular retail price.
  3. A reduction in the price paid for a shipment of goods if payment is made by a specified date.
  4. The relationship in valuation between two assets. For example, a stock may sell at a discount to book value.
