convenience sampling
In statistics, a sampling technique in which a sample is selected on the basis of convenience and ease. The problem is, the sample is likely to be unrepresentative of the population as a whole. For example, a study of the age and sex of shoppers at a mall might entail surveying mall shoppers for three hours during a weekday morning. The sample drawn is likely to be unrepresentative of all mall shoppers because of the lack of representation of working adults, who are most likely at work, and school-age children, who should be in school.
