controlled group

  1. One or more chains of corporations that are connected through stock ownership with a common parent when 80% of the stock of each corporation is owned by one or more corporations in the group and the parent owns at least 80% of one other corporation.
  2. A group of two or more corporations in which five or fewer common owners (individuals, trusts, or an estate) own directly or indirectly a controlling interest (generally 80% or more of the stock) of each group and have effective control.
