  1. A bureau of the U.S. Treasury that charters, regulates, and examines national banks. The bureau supervises a nationwide staff of over 2,300 bank examiners. Also called Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
  2. The administrator who disseminates and oversees the execution of laws relating to national banks.
