budget

  1. An itemized projection of revenues and expenses for a specific period of time. Companies utilize a variety of budgets, including cash budgets that exclude noncash items such as depreciation and accruals.
  2. The amount of funds allocated for a specific purpose. For example, a company may establish a marketing budget or a family may set a budget for a vacation.
