bounce

  1. Upward movement in the price of an asset following a period of price stability or price declines. For example, a stock might get a nice bounce because of a favorable comment from an influential analyst.
  2. Return of an undeliverable email to its sender.
  3. The return of a check to its maker by the bank, generally because of insufficient funds for payment. Also called rubber check.
