BIP (Bit Interleaved Parity) Telecom Definition
In SDH and SONET networks, an error control mechanism comprising parity bytes associated with each frame. BIP is included in Line Overhead (LOH) and Section Overhead (SOH). See also LOH, parity, SDH, SOH, and SONET.
