or Ba·ra·no·vi·chi (bə-räˈnə-vĭchˌē)

A city of southwest Belarus west of Babruysk. Founded in 1870, it passed from Russia to Poland in 1920 and was a part of the USSR from 1939 to 1991. Population: 168,000.
