ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit)
Telecom Definition
A semiconductor integrated circuit designed for a specific application. An ASIC, for example, can be designed specifically a real-time processing task such as running a particular type of encryption, or running a cell phone or personal digital assistant (PDA).
