Recall Term Comment
Recall Alphabet R, W, Q, O, J, M, V, A, H, B, S, G, Z, X, N, T, C, I, E, K, U, P, D, Y, F, L-randomized to prevent bias in favor of any one candidate.
Recall Initiative On the California books since 1910, it also gives Californians the right to pass and repeal laws by initiatives and referendums.
A Voter's Revolution The Recall as seen from the Right.
Vote NO Voting NO on the recall is voting YES for Governor Davis. If the majority of voters vote NO on the Recall, Governor Davis retains the governorship and all balloting for the other candidates is moot.
Vote YES Voting YES on the Recall is voting NO for Governor Davis. If the majority of voters vote YES on the Recall, then Davis is removed from office and the other candidate with the most votes becomes governor. A plurality of the votes is sufficient for victory.
Ariana The Greek-born syndicated columnist and self-declared nemesis (and shadow) of Ahh-nold, has withdrawn from the race but continues campaigning in an endless Huff(ington) against the Recall.
Ahh-nold Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Austrian-born Hollywood star and Republican front-runner. Similar to the Boston Brahmin pronunciation of Hah-vahd (no other similarities insinuated).
Ah-null Another variation on the name of Arnold Schwarzenegger, whose experience for an election grab (see below) comes more from the latter than the former.
Pregnant Chad Not an expectant dark-horse candidate but the cause of the Florida fiasco. "No More Floridas!" is the rallying cry of the Democrats.
Tom McClintock Conservative Republican state senator who denies with a straight face that his candidacy spoils Ah-nold's chances for victory.
Serial Groping Another type of 'power grab' that has headlines of late. (See also, 'puke politics'.)
Gray Davis The sitting (from exhaustion) California governor's days are pretty gray themselves, as voters decide whether his performance is gray enough to end it mid-term.
Governator A titled bestowed upon himself by Ahh-nold.
The Count of Bustamante Crus Bustamante, the current Lieutenant Governor of California whose fund-raising activities, he assures us, are perfectly legal and ethical.
CAH-lee-FOR-nee-ah The name of the state according to the Republican front-runner.
The Circus (1) California Gubernatorial Recall Initiative with its 135 eager candidates.
The Circus (2) From the view of the right: U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit, which tried to postpone the Recall Election until March because of faulty voting machines in some districts.
$3500 Registration fee to perform in the circus (plus the signatures of a whopping 65 registered California voters).
$38 Billion The current size of the California budget deficit which started the whole recall effort.
Peter Camejo Even though a bit Green in politics, he made a strong impression in the debate but remains Green with envy of front-runners.
1,700,000 The number of signatures needed to initiate the Recall effort (20% of the total number of voters in previous gubernatorial election).
Twin Terminators The Twin Terminators of Sacramento, according to Ahh-nold: the current Governor and Lieutenant Governor.
Election Grab The election as seen from the left (not Ahh-nold's party-time antics).
Darrall Issa US Congressman of the 49th District whose political animosities and wealth started the Recall Initiative rolling.
The Debate A series of interruptions and insults by the candidates, watched by a majority of 'likely voters,' including Governor Gray Davis, who was not invited.
