Here's the word on 2000.
December 28, 2000. (eLiving, Atlanta Constitution) - Leave it to yourdictionary.com to come out with a list of the year's most celebrated words. At the top, no doubt, is the four-letter word heard in both the Al Gore and George W. Bush camps: chad. More of the Y2K vocabulary and modernized definitions (their words, our translations in most cases):

Dot-com Short for Depression Coming.
Elian Cuban for"Family Feud."
God Based on their speeches, close political ally to both presidential camps.
Pelletizing The process of bonding the rubber with the steel- belted radial tires. Or, perhaps, "pending suits."
Intifada A shorthand reference to a conflict between the Israelis and Palestinians that escalated in late September (their words).
Tiger The athlete of the year, or "he who launches his own golf tour."
