yourDictionary.com on your Desktop

Desktop yourDictionary.com

There are two ways to integrate yourDictionary.com's website with your Windows desktop. First, you can install a shortcut directly to yourDictionary.com so that all you have to do is click an icon on your desktop and your computer will connect you to your ISP, deploy your web browser, and take you to yourDictionary.com in the shortest possible time. To do this, place your cursor where you want the link on your desktop and press the right button on your mouse. In the menu that pops up, choose "New" then select "Shortcut." In the "command line" window, type in yourDictionary's URL: "http://education.yourdictionary.com/for-teachers/" then click "next." In the following window, type in "your Dictionary" with a space between "your" and "Dictionary," then click "finish." You should have an icon on your desktop with your browser's logo and "yourDictionary" underneath it.

You can also integrate our website in your desktop so that your favorite dictionary or dictionaries will be available when you are using other applications if you are on line. To do this, first place your cursor on a blank space anywhere on your desktop and press the right button. In the menu that pops up, click "Active Desktop" then "Customize my Desktop." A window called "Display Properties" will pop up and the "Web" tab should be chosen (if not, choose it). Next click "New" and in the window that appears beside the "Browse" button type in "http://education.yourdictionary.com/for-teachers/" (letter perfect!) You can also just copy it from here and paste it in the Display Properties window.

Now a window will appear on your desktop itself. Click to your favorite dictionary input and jiggle the scroll bars until it fits the dictionary input you use the most. When you move your cursor to the top of this new window, a gray bar pops up. Left click that bar and move the window to a corner or to the side of your desktop where you can see it as you work in other applications. Now you can type in any word you want and get the Merriam-Webster or foreign language definition you need alongside all your other applications. (To remove this window at any time, simply return to "Display Properties" and uncheck it in the window there.)
