The second generation of wireless communications technology. This phase of wireless technology began in the 1990s and continued into 2003. This technology offers digital voice encoding.

2G (2nd Generation) Telecom Definition

In cellular radio, referring to systems based on the first digital standards, including Digital-AMPS (D-AMPS), Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM), Personal Digital Cellular (PDC), and Personal Communications System (PCS).
